Spherical washers are designed for creating a parallel plane between the bolt head and the face of the nut. Raptor Supplies offers spherical washers from Grainger. They are also known as levelling washers and are ideal for die & fixturing applications.
All-spherical, two-piece washers automatically adjust under compression for compensating angular deviations up to 4 degrees.
When the male and female components nest, they swivel slightly to compensate for uneven surfaces & tolerance variations.
Compensation of angular deviations creates a parallel plane between the inner face of the nut and the inner face of the bolt head. This allows uniform distribution of load over the complete inner contact surface area.
The concave component has a positive tolerance while the convex part has a negative tolerance.
