Keyed shafts with a keyway-cut design are suitable for use with motors to reduce vibrations and achieve tighter tolerances, as compared to keyless models. These cold-drawn shafts are available in different materials to suit a wide variety of applications, such as Grade 1045 carbon steel construction for secondary operations, machine-grade aluminium option for robotic applications and stainless steel shafts for food processing applications. They are primarily used for high torque applications while resisting regular wear & tear. These keyed shafts are cheaper to use and do not require a complete redesign of their machinery according to spline shaft design.
