Hex standoffs are threaded hollow tubes that position and separate components while also fastening them together in PC boards. Raptor Supplies offers a wide range of standoffs from Grainger, Richard Manno Co. and Micro Plastics. These fasteners are also known as standoff mounts and are used to elevate a circuit board above a surface. They are ideal for extending thread options or being used as adaptors for joining male-threaded parts to female-threaded parts.
Standoffs are threaded on both ends, whereas spacers are unthreaded & have an inside clearance hole.
Any unused standoffs must be removed and every mounting hole in the motherboard must be screwed into a standoff to prevent short-circuiting of the motherboard.
